My name is Mrs. Evangeline Marie Markley, and I will be your child’s second-grade teacher for the 2019-2020 school year.  This is going to be a very special year as your child prepares for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. You and I will be spending more time with your child in the upcoming school year than any other adult.  Because of this, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a few things about myself professionally.

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development from Azusa Pacific University and hold a Master’s Degree in Education.  This will be my twenty-sixth year teaching for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, and have previously taught grades 1, 4, 5, 7, & 8.

I have been married for 24 years to my husband, Randy. Together we have one nineteen year old daughter, KaitLynn. When I am not teaching I enjoy hiking, playing darts, and spending time with my family and dog, Greñas.

As an assertive teacher, I will implement and practice a positive approach when dealing with my students.  I will also help my students live according to the Gospel, and develop the ability to choose their behavior by making their own choices and assume the responsibility for their actions and decisions.  The ultimate goal of my classroom management plan is to respect my students and create a safe classroom that encourages Catholic faith and as much learning and positive experiences as possible.

You are the most important people in your child’s life, and we need to work together for your child’s benefit.  I need you to support my academic, homework, and discipline efforts, and I will keep you informed about your child’s progress.  With school and home working together, I know my students can have a successful year.

Yours In Christ,

Mrs. Evangeline Marie Markley
